“If you wanna run away with me, I know a galaxy and I can take you for a ride.”
You would have had to have been in a galaxy far, far away to miss out on Dua Lipa’s force of pop-nature Future Nostalgia. Lipa’s sophomore (?) album is nominated at the upcoming Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. (Just in case you needed proof that our musical taste is as good as our beer taste.)
Her track “Levitating” appears on our Springdale 2021 Playlist and is the source of inspiration for Galaxy Ride: a cosmic force of Galaxy and Vic Secret hops teleporting to our taproom this month. To get inspired for this intergalactic undertaking, we broke down the title of Lipa’s album and figured out exactly what Future Nostalgia means to us.
–
Future [fu·ture, adjective] – at a later time; going or likely to happen or exist.
Nostalgia [nos·tal·gia, noun] – a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations.
–
The melding of these two concepts got us thinking about influence, about the way the past still carries so much inspiration for the future whether that’s beer, music, or art. There’s the cyclical pattern of the “old” becoming “new” again, being given new vitality through reinvention and experimentation.
This label draws inspiration from the archives of our own nostalgia: The covers of 1980’s science fiction novels and everything that comes with them, planetariums, holograms, teleporter beams, and chrome!!! The very influences of the song itself embody the collaborative energy between past and present: Daft Punk’s electro-funk meets the punchy speak-sing of Blondie. And while this beer itself is fleeting, the recipes we work at are reinventions of themselves, served fresh for you every time.
Please keep all hands and feet inside the vehicle and enjoy the ride responsibly.
